Redecorate for Spring!

Spring is coming and with a new season, couldn't your home use a new look?

The newest trends are plunging into cave-man style with the basement look! Pick up a faux-finish paint kit at your local hardware store and follow the easy steps in the diagram at left to make even the smoothest walls look like unfinished concrete. Next, remove any paintings and, heaven forbid, any candle sconces, and replace them with anime posters and replica swords. You can really see the feel of the room developing at this stage.

Don't stop now! Don't let the outdoors creep in through your windows! Cover them with blankets. After all, natural sunlight is a no-no near any decent comic-book collection, as it can cause fading. Sunlight has also been known to disrupt the natural palor of human skin, so cover those windows up!

Every stylish room has one main focal-point and, the nerd-trendsetters are all going cyber-clutter! That's right, make sure your computer is clearly visable from all angles of the room. Accent that magical portal with piles of papers, action figures, and empty junk food wrappers. This creates a warm, lived-in look and states that you are a person of culture, a real web-junkie.

Now, to bring a truly renaisance ecclecticism to the room, you need a high-action adventure vibe added to the modern cyber-nest. This can be done with outdated weaponry poular in your favorite fantasy novels, replica armor, or lots of airsoft guns. Don't be fussy or too symetrical about placing them. Obsessive-compulsive tendencies are best displayed with complex CD and DVD organizational systems and archive quality comic book storage techniques. Weaponry should be displayed with a casual air, randomly scattered on floors and beds.

For even more original ideas that reflect your personal style, try IM-ing your favorite blog buddies for ideas of images that really reflect your interests. Hang your favorite mementos from every Ren fair, Star Wars Celebration, and Comic convention your visited. Just dive in and create a Nerd-fashion hub right in your very own home. All the uncool kids are doing it!

Who me? Whatever do you mean?

No, I didn't invent it. I inherited it. Have you not met my twisted family?

:)

Oh, this blog is going to be fun as hell.

No, but once you move into the basement it will be close, wont it?

This is fun. If you want to write any articles for my fake magazine, let me know and I'll put you on as a contributer.

See, I started this story with evil penguins in it. Kyle said that it is overdone. Other than Wallace and Grommett, I hadn't seen evil penguins used before, but Kyle said it was a pop-culture nerd thing, like people going on about sporks.
Then I decided, well... we need some way to keep up on just what is cool in the nerd world, so here it is. The zine with an eye on all the hot trends in nerdom. ha ha :)

Hi grey ghost.
Driven by sheer boredom, I was just going through (shall I say awesome? ) blog. If you can solve my query, i will feel honoured. It's my bestfriend just happened to become my classmate and he is facing difficulties with studies. I want to helo him but he is acting so paranoid/sarcastic. He doesn't need help. I can't leave him.. and his parents are not around too. They are in singapore and he is in pakistan and it was his wish to get enroll in my school and stay in pakistan and by that I don't mean he wanted to study with me. He hates singapore, he loves his homeland that is where he is now. But he is sad like SAD :(

So there is a possibility that he'll have to move to Singapore to join his parents? He won't be able to stay there with you? I can see how he'd be upset about that. I can also see that Singapore is quite a long way from Pakistan, and the chances of you two seeing each other might be slim. May I ask how old you and your friend are?

What a come back Grey Ghost :) I thought you were taking break, but still thanks for taking time out and replying me. I am 17, he is 18. He can't continue his studies from Singapore, he gets sick of that place. He will complete education here, in Pakistan. And he finds it difficult to cope with studies here as he joined school late and besides no one in my school helps him. We are having fight every now and then, he is skipping his midterms and all. I can't bear this.
If nothing works, then you know what? we are already on verge of breaking up.

You just described my boyfriend's room, my friend's room, my other friend's room, half the guys' rooms down the hall in my dorm... =D

Wonderful. I'd do my room this way if I could.
